Over the centuries, Jersey has stood as an "Island Rock," fortified to defend against invaders—from the Stone Age through to World War II. Throughout the German occupation, Hitler’s vision was part of an impregnable Atlantic Wall transforming Jersey into a "Land Battleship" to protect Normandy's western coast. Remarkably, around 6% of this fortified Atlantic Wall was invested in Jersey, leaving a legacy of bunkers, tunnels, and defenses that echo its strategic role in wartime history.
